Plastic kettles might be the ultimate microplastic bomb. 💥
Research from the University of Queensland found that a brand-new plastic kettle can release nearly 3 billion micro- and nanoplastic particles into a single 250ml cup during its first boil. Even after 150 uses, researchers still detected approximately 205 million particles per cup.
While research into the long-term health implications is still evolving, scientists have detected microplastics in human blood, lungs, placentas, and other tissues.
This is a reminder to take a closer look at the everyday products that come into contact with our food and water. The non-toxic living movement isn’t built on one big change. It’s built on small, intentional choices in our day-to-day.
