• Painted the Visitor Center at the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum - Burr Oak, Iowa - go check out Laura Days June 26-28, 2026!
• Painted a cellar door
• Ordered materials for next week from Spring Grove Lumber
• Picked strawberries at WOLD STRAWBERRIES
• Made strawberry jam and strawberry syrup
• Hit up BBQ night at Fat Pat’s Brewery & Catering and tried out the dessert- it was amazing!
• Grabbed a Father's Day gift at Emerald Lane
• Went to Toy Story 5 at Spring Grove Cinema 🥹

While working in Burr Oak at the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum Visitor Center, Tyler stopped into Barney's Bar & Grill for lunch and he said it was amazing! Be sure to check them out if you're in the area!

I was so excited when Tyler told me he was contacted to give the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum - Burr Oak, Iowa a bid for some exterior painting at their Visitor Center! I have such a deep appreciation for historical architecture, so I had to tag along when he went to take a look!

I remember taking a field trip to the museum next door when I was in 4th grade maybe (Crestwood peeps correct me if I'm wrong)- so it was so cool to go back and see it again. What wasn't cool was realizing that was about 25 years ago already, which is weird because surely we can't be that old! 😅

Me being the nerd that I am, I found an old picture of this building back when it was the Briggs Day Light Store, built in the early 1900s. I love that this building is not only still standing, but is now part of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum!

🥳 I also wanted to be sure to mention that Burr Oak is celebrating their 50th Laura Day Celebration next weekend (June 26-28) and it looks like they will have tons of fun for everyone! The actress who played Nellie will even be making a special appearance on the 27th! How neat is that?! If you aren't busy, be sure to check it out!

We had a busy weekend! Here's last week's rundown:

• Typed up 2 invoices
• Finished up deck job
• Was a busy week with job inquiries! Tyler fielded calls and took down info to set up times to come take a look at multiple potential jobs
• Looked at potential jobs
• Exterior paint
• Shed- replacing poles
• Exterior paint
• Roof
• Figured bids
• Looked at another job caused by the recent storm, but it was more of a plumbing issue so Tyler referred them to Grove Plumbing. If there's something Tyler isn't comfortable doing, he will always refer you to someone he trusts can do the job!
• Tyler had a flat tire on the skid loader that the guys at Lee Auto fixed for us so he picked that up and got it put back on
• Job inquiry to paint a barn roof and hang a barn quilt. Tyler will go take a look and get them an estimate
• Power-washed at the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum visitor center!
• Got materials for painting
• Our boys spent the weekend with Grandpa and Grandma Burnikel so mom and dad got caught up on some much needed cleaning and organizing!

•Demoed a deck and railings
•Posted the June Color of the Month from Sherwin-Williams (Sundew)

Tuesday:
•More deck demoing
•Celebrated our little man's last day of Kindergarten!
•Planted a tree for little man so we can watch it grow with him through his school career 🌳
•Looked at a steel job (referral)

Wednesday:
•Framed up a new deck
•Looked at an exterior paint job- Kylie is really excited about this one! (referral)
•Looked at another exterior paint job

Thursday:
•Installed a new Trex deck with Avalon aluminum railings 😍
*Materials from our favorite local Spring Grove Lumber

Friday:
•Finished up new Trex deck with Avalon aluminum railings!
*Materials from our favorite local Spring Grove Lumber
•Looked at yet another exterior paint job!

Saturday: Supporting those fellow small businesses!
•Picked up our old Ford from Lee Auto 🛻 Kyle got the manifolds fixed and she's good as new!
*Fun fact: this is the longest Tyler has ever kept a vehicle 😅 Kylie was VERY pregnant with Bryson when we bought it almost 7 years ago
•Grabbed some goodies at Emerald Lane in Caledonia
*1924 Laundry Soap from Johnson Livings
*Avon Skin So Soft from the Ma and Pa Shop- we've heard this is good to keep gnats away so we're gonna give it a try!

💧Next week's plan: power-washing to get ready for some exterior paint!

I'm sure this customer wished that the tree would've fallen in the other direction, but that new steel sure is pretty!
