24 x 24 porcelain, installed with very little thin set, was falling off the wall. Everything was loose as the thin set stuck to the concrete backer board but not the tile. Wasn’t back buttered. No waterproofing applied either.

Removed the old, installed new waterproof backer and new wall tile. Wish we would have changed the shower floor, oh well.

Looks like the old guy still can. Took me 4 days at 4hrs/ day for the first 3 days, then 1.5 hrs to grout it all. Who’s retired ?? 😁😁

Work completed by an un-trained contractor. Never spent one day learning the correct way to install tile.

Picture #1, he uses Red Guard waterproofing membrane incorrectly. By code, walls using Durock backer board must be FULLY rolled (2 coats) with membrane. All seams sealed with 6” fiber and then rolled. This hasn’t been done.
He’s using 1/8” spacers (white) 1/16” (green) is recommended in all showers and tubs.

Picture #2 You can see clearly the linear drain is crooked. Also LFT (large format tile) needs to be offset 1/3 NOT 1/2 due to the way they’re manufactured. (Concave) These walls are bound to have kickers and WILL eventually leak.

Be careful who you hire. Licensing is only a small part of what is needed. Training is more important, Maverick.
