This is the exterior wall to a bathroom on a 1 1/2 story house. Moisture traveled through the plaster/lathe walls hit the cold winter air (no insulation in the walls) and condensed, resulting in wood rot over a long period of time. At Quarve, we identify the root cause and solve it. In this case, tear it all off, layer of spray foam to air seal and fiberglass batting. End result increased comfort and greatly improved energy efficiency. QUARVE.COM

Did you know that older homes with wood plank roof deck commonly have gaps between the boards? Building code and shingle manufacturers typically require the gaps to be less than 1/4”. If they exceed that, a roof deck overlay is required of either 3/8” CDX plywood or 7/16” OSB. if not planned for, this can be a large surprise additional expense.
