BE PREPARD!
To avoid frozen and burst pipes in winter, keep your home heated to at least 55°F, allow faucets to drip slightly to relieve pressure, and open cabinet doors to circulate warm air around plumbing. Insulate exposed pipes in unheated areas (basements, crawlspaces) and disconnect garden hoses.
