Happy Fall y’all! Hopefully, you’ve been able to get out and enjoy the seasons changing! November is a great month to get your house prepared for those really cold months. Here are some things you might not have thought to do yet!

1. Time to disconnect and drain your outdoor hoses — before the first freeze hits!
2. Check those door seals! A small draft could raise your heating bill.
3. Clean your gutters before that next cold rain turns into an ice dam.
4. Weatherstripping your windows keeps the heat in and saves money.
5. Now’s the time to swap ceiling fan direction to clockwise for winter. A clockwise rotation pulls air up the center and moves it out along the ceiling, gently pushing warm air down into the room to make it feel warmer.
6. Outdoor faucet covers cost less than $5 — and can save hundreds in pipe repairs.
7. Check your furnace filter — clean filters keep your system running efficiently.
8. Inspect your smoke and CO detectors — colder months mean closed windows. Heating systems, electrical decorations, and candles create higher fire and CO poisoning risks.
9. Seal cracks in driveways or sidewalks before water freezes and could cause them to expand.
