Granite or Quartz? What's the difference? Here is info comparing them both.

What They’re Made Of
Granite
* 100% natural stone cut from quarries
* Each slab is unique with natural veining and patterns
* No two countertops look exactly the same
Quartz
* Engineered stone (about 90–95% crushed quartz mixed with resin and pigments)
* Manufactured in factories
* Patterns and colors are more consistent and controlled
Maintenance
Granite
* Needs sealing about once a year
* Slightly porous (can absorb liquids if not sealed)
* Very heat resistant
Quartz
* Non-porous
* No sealing required
* More stain resistant than granite
* Heat resistant but can be damaged by very hot pans
Appearance
Granite
* Natural variation
* Dramatic veins and mineral patterns
* Often preferred for a natural luxury look
Quartz
* Cleaner, more uniform look
* Can mimic marble, granite, or concrete
* Popular for modern kitchens
