Quick tip! When moving tomatoes outside, go and purchase a pack of cheap wooden kebab skewers. They provide just enough support to help keep your stems from breaking and bending until they have a chance to thicken and acclimate to the outdoors.

We are growing lots of broccoli! These were part of our and it amazes me to know that each plant will yield 1-2 pounds of broccoli and we have 102 plants. That’s madness!

This might look like nothing, but this is huge for the farm. These are little clumps of blue eyed grass. They are a native flower in the iris family. These are known as an indicator species. We have spent the past 2 years not spraying, removing invasive plants, fostering a good ecology, and we are being rewarded by seeing these plants which are very sensitive to pollution and competition return to the land.

This is what makes an organic gardener and farmer happy!

First experiment intercropping dill with garlic was a huge success. Garlic needs moisture to size up, dill has a dense foliage that smothers weeds and most importantly shades the soil which reduces evaporation. I have yet to harvest the garlic, but it is looking very promising!

What an honor! We were interviewed for a segment on tomatoes growing care for Martha Stewart. Check it out and hopefully learn something!

Watering your tomatoes is important—but be careful not to overwater these plants. To help you avoid these mistakes, we asked experts how to properly water your tomato garden.

It’s stuff like this that I just can’t wrap my mind around. Going and leaving a blatantly fake review, with such an extreme lie to damage our reputation and devalue our team’s hard work is just crazy. $80 is 40 packs… 40! And not a SINGLE seed sprouted, but Home Depot (a company that doesn’t manufacture a single pack of seeds and only resells other brands) somehow all sprouted. Yet the account was created only 2 days ago, 1 review was made and it was for us, and the profile is blocked…

I know our quality. We use our seed for our garden and our greenhouse. Anyone that knows our seeds knows this is a trash review with no substance. But what sucks are those that haven’t tried our seeds don’t know this is total BS.

I seriously hate society sometimes.

I got a message today from a friend of the channel. They were asking why I haven’t opened the farm up yet to the public to see. I understand after 2 years the excitement is building. BUT. There are a few reasons. We will be opening the farm up hopefully next fall if everything goes according to plan. Let me break down the reasons for not opening yet and I think you will understand.

1. Undersized trees: the farm is a mixed fruit orchard. This means there are a variety of different trees. All trees take 4-5 years to start producing fruit. It would be very anticlimactic to bring people out to see a 2-3 foot tall tree.

2. Mess: because the farm is still a work in progress, there are a lot of things not buttoned up. This is something we are constantly trying to work on.

3. Boutique experience: when we do open, it will be based on a restaurant experience. Limited cars, limited people, limited time slots. Reservations will be made ahead of time and this will ensure everyone can experience a classic orchard experience without it being a shoulder to shoulder carnival, zoo, and festival all in one.

4. My time: my time is very limited right now being that I am at the farm helping. If people are dropping by, I ultimately can’t get work done, and that slows everything down.

5. Surprise: we want the opening to be a surprise. It’s not like a grand opening where we can put tape on the windows. It’s a huge farm. So in an effort to make it a surprise, we are waiting for the right time so it has the most impact.

Victoria rhubarb seed stock for 2028 seeds. That’s right, we plan that far ahead! We have had the hardest time keeping this variety stocked due to a severe shortage of rhubarb seed. Not only will he be able to supply our shop, but also lots of other seed shops. We aren’t an island when it comes to preserving heirloom varieties.

For those in cooler climates, get your last planting of radishes, spinach, and lettuce in. It may be a week too late but with any luck we will continue to have a mild summer and we can extend our spring crop season by 2-3 more weeks.
