“No Promises, No Demands”

I have this habit of getting stuck on pieces that don’t work. I have An Idea, I try and finish it. Which is great, when it’s An Idea that works. But they don’t always, so out comes the gesso, and the whole canvas gets covered. For these, I reuse the leftover paint that’s been sitting in my cupboard from previous paintings. I don’t ever have a plan, and I just sort of meander in whatever general direction my works been heading lately. Basically, I take the opposite approach I do when I have An Idea. No expectations, just do a thing and decide if I like it.
This was one of those pieces, and I couldn’t be happier with the result.

Excited and honored to be a part of this upcoming show at ! “A Quiet Composition” is a juried show centered around minimalism, and I’ve had two pieces selected to show. Fun fact- they were both made with a palette of 3 paints each!

“Technicolor Inspiration”

While watching the 1943 “Phantom of the Opera”, I noticed a character in the opera within the movie was wearing an absolutely fantastic color combination.
So I painted something close.
Oh and Claude Rains was a fantastic Phantom.

“Trending Upwards”
Acrylic on 2 10”x20” gallery wrapped canvases

All of the colors on this piece came from a blue, a purple, a pink, and some white I had to add to a couple as a bit of a cheat. I painted it with the lines connecting between canvases (check the video at the end), but after switching the orientation about 2,000 time, I’ve decided I like this way- the long blue lines ascending across each canvas feels optimistic to me.
