In 1960, West Contracting moved to Brentwood down Manchester Blvd.

That location became home for decades.

From 1960 until 2020, Brentwood was where generations of West employees came to work, where equipment moved in and out, where plans were made, books were kept, decisions were made, and a lot of the company’s history happened.

Like any place that holds that many years of work, it needed some attention over time. There were repairs, updates, changes, and plenty of moving involved.

But that building was part of the story.

As we celebrate 70 years in business, we look back with appreciation for every place, every person, and every chapter that helped build West into what it is today.

This Memorial Day, West Contracting pauses to remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice is the reason we are able to live, work, build, and gather in freedom.

Today, we remember them with gratitude and respect.

From all of us at West Contracting, we wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

In the early days of West Contracting, the business did not start with a big office or a full staff.

It started with family.

When Norm West needed help keeping the books, his selling point to Larry’s mom was simple: if she helped with the paperwork, he would take her to dinner on Friday nights.

That was the deal.

A little bookkeeping.
A dinner promise.
And one more example of how West Contracting was built the way many family businesses are built: with trust, teamwork, sacrifice, and people doing whatever needed to be done.

Seventy years later, that same family foundation is still part of the story.

Some stories say a lot about the kind of company West Contracting has always been.

In the late 80s, a fire caused the office to burn to the ground. For most businesses, that would have stopped everything.

But the following Monday, Larry remembers his mom going to the safe, pulling out the checks, and making sure the bills still got paid.

That was the mindset.

Handle what needs to be handled.
Take care of the business.
Keep things moving.

Seventy years later, that same steady, determined spirit is still part of West Contracting’s story.

It is showing up in the field, checking in face to face, helping employees navigate questions, connecting people with training, and making sure team members know they have support throughout their careers.

From apprentices just starting out to employees who retire after years with the company, West is built around people who grow here, stay here, and make a career out of the work.

That is what makes the job fulfilling.

Today, we celebrate the moms, grandmothers, stepmoms, mother figures, and all the women who show up, support, guide, encourage, and keep families moving forward.
