What a beauty!!! What are you waiting for????
Open Door Animal Sanctuary

This charming little girl is Keili. She lost her home when her human mom suffered some health problems that made her unable to care for Keili or herself. This little chicken had a rough time at first- hid under the desk in the dog office, refused to eat, and just acted sad and frightened. She has since discovered that she has a lot of friends here. When you enter the room, she greets you like you're the biggest rockstar on the planet- what an ego boost! She is good with cats and other dogs (though she can be a little jealous at times) and LOVES people. She's 8 years old, healthy, and ready for a new home!

JETHRO!!!!

JETHRO!!!!

I used to have a problem in my life. I would go for walks with my dog, and nobody ever shouted at me, "Put a saddle on that dog!" or, "Is that a dog or a horse?". Things were so empty and bleak. Out in public, not a single kid exclaimed, "That's a BIG dog!" My pants went un-drooled-upon. My bed was barren and lonely.
That was before I discovered the Joy of Jethro. At 146 pounds, he's everything I could have dreamed. Need protection from masked bandits? He'll lean on them amicably until they topple over. Seeing eye dog? Jethro can see. Running buddy? Jethro will give you an excuse to just stay home instead. Most of all, Jethro just wants someone to love him and be nearby. He's mellow and adaptable and a good old boy. Jethro is ten, which is quite old for a mastiff, so we are offering him as a "forever foster"- he would be yours for the rest of his life, but the adoption fee would be waived and routine vet care would be covered.
Jethro is currently in a foster home, but would do better in a home with no other pets. He's enough dog all on his own!

This is our Lana. She's not available for adoption yet, but I want to tell you all about her. Lana came to us as a stray. We don't know for sure what her life before the shelter was like, but her scars and her sagging teats tell a story. Lana, like many dogs who come our way, is heartworm positive. She is currently preparing for treatment, which will be very costly and very hard on her, physically.

Here's what you need to know about Lana. Lana likes to steal the kennel workers' shoes and take them to her bed. She doesn't chew on them or destroy them- just wants to have them near her. She has strong maternal instincts and gets very worried if squeaky toys make noise. She doesn't want them to squeak. Lana is shy at first and cowers away from a variety of ordinary objects, but comes back around with some coaxing. She is gentle, listens well, and wants nothing more than to please you. The only time she ever barks or makes noise is when she's very excited to see you- she'll give you the sweetest low howl.

We can only speculate on what Lana's past was like, but this we know: her future will be bright and beautiful. We'll get her past the hurdles of heartworm treatment and shelter life and make sure that when she goes to her home, it's nothing but soft beds, long walks, and good food from here on out.
