Master Gardeners had two wonderful tours today. At The Hickories, Dina Brewster showed us her planting plots and explained the importance of the native Eco 59 seeds she collects, cleans, and grows. At Planters’ Choice, while Darryl Newman brought us through different types of greenhouses and hoop houses, he showed us the large variety of plants that he grows, some of which are from the Eco59 Wild Seed Project. Many thanks to Pat Carroll for setting this up.

Master Gardeners recently visited NYBG to tour the herbarium collection and library.

It was a great day of learning about plant preservation of samples from around the globe and across time. We even had a glimpse of the library’s rare book collection with illustrations by Redoute and a handwritten manuscript Circa instans on vellum from the 1100s.
