❤️ KEEPING MEMORIES ALIVE — ONE PROJECT AT A TIME. 🛠️

Today Howard C Byrd , we had the opportunity to work on a small project that meant so much more than the size of the job.

In the front yard was an old planter built by the customer’s late husband, complete with a lamp post in the center. It had sentimental value that couldn’t simply be replaced.

So instead of removing the memory, we helped restore and preserve it. ❤️

We built a brand-new stone planter around the existing lamp post, gave the post a light sanding to remove surface rust, and finished it with fresh rust-resistant paint. The goal wasn’t to erase what was there — it was to give it new life while keeping the memory attached to it alive.

Around the back of the home was another beautiful piece with a story — a stunning stained-glass window.

Over the years, Mother Nature and neglect had taken their toll. The existing frame had begun to rot in several areas, the window was becoming drafty, and eventually the frame would have continued to deteriorate.

We carefully removed the old casing, added new weather protection beneath the molding, installed a fresh, more modern casing, and finished it off with a new exterior paint job.

The result? A beautiful upgrade that protects the window and preserves something special about the home. 🏡✨

The customer was thrilled — and honestly, that’s the part of the job we value most.

It’s not always about the size of the project or the dollar amount attached to it.

Sometimes it’s about showing up, listening to the customer, understanding what matters to them, and putting love, pride, and craftsmanship into the little things.

Because trust is built through small deposits over time — one project, one conversation, and one satisfied customer at a time.

Two deck projects. One mission. 💪

We’ve got two deck transformations happening at the same time. One deck is being prepped for a fresh coat of paint, while the other is in the cosmetic framing and screen enclosure phase.

Our goal is to have both projects wrapped up within the next five days—weather permitting. 🌦️ This summer has definitely tested everyone’s patience with constant weather delays, but we’re pushing hard to make up lost time and keep our clients’ projects moving.

We’re also excited to be slowly bringing a new team member into the Howard C Byrd family. Growth takes time, and we’re committed to doing it the right way while continuing to deliver the quality workmanship our customers expect.

🚧 Big milestone on this deck transformation! 🏡🔥

Today we’re installing the corrugated roof, and this project is really starting to come together. Our customer chose this beautiful tan roof, and the contrast against the green surroundings is absolutely stunning. Sometimes the right color choice makes all the difference!

With the roof in place, we’re entering the final stages of this custom deck enclosure. Not only does it completely change the look of the space, but it also lets us keep working even when the weather doesn’t cooperate.

🎥 Deck Enclosure Update!

Today’s mission is all about bringing this deck one step closer to the finish line! We’re staining both the upper and lower sections before we install the roof system and screen enclosure.

The upper deck is getting Cabot Stain Semi-Transparent Ultra White Stain, which enhances the natural beauty of the wood while allowing the grain to shine through. It delivers a clean, bright finish without hiding the character of the lumber.

The lower deck is a mix of existing and new wood, so we’re using Cabot Stain Solid Ultra White Stain. This gives everything a uniform appearance, conceals the imperfections between old and new boards, and provides a durable, washable finish that’s built to last for years.

Every product and finish is chosen with a purpose—because the details make all the difference.

Progress is coming together! 🔨

The lower screen frames are now built and ready for the next phase. We’ll sand them smooth, paint them crisp white, install the screening, and securely attach each panel to the lower deck railings for a clean, finished look.

For the upper section, we’re exploring two great options:
• Natural pine frames with a rich stain for a warm, timeless appearance.
• Primed pine frames painted to match for a seamless, modern finish.

No matter which direction the homeowner chooses, this enclosed deck is going to look incredible.

🚧 Apartment Refresh | New Tenant Turnover

After nearly 7 years, it was time to give this one-bedroom apartment a fresh start. The previous tenant was a heavy smoker, so we’re stepping in to bring the space back to life.

Over the next 3 days, Howard C Byrd will be:
🎨 Repainting the entire apartment from top to bottom
🛠️ Repairing drywall and patching damaged areas
✨ Taking care of the finishing touches to make the space clean, bright, and move-in ready

Today’s deck build update! 🛠️

We’re moving into the finishing stage by staining the lower enclosure panels that will wrap both sides of the deck. The pool side will remain screened, with upper and lower framing to keep the space open while providing protection and airflow.

We’re using Cabot Stain Acorn color stain to give the wood a warm, natural finish that complements the outdoor space. The panels will be installed vertically to highlight the wood grain and create a clean, modern look.

This phase will use eight 4’×8’ panels to enclose approximately 40 linear feet, bringing the project one step closer to completion.

Follow along as we transform this deck into a beautiful, functional outdoor living space.
