My name is Johnny, Uncle Patsy’s first nephew and his godson. Growing up in the same household, he was always my go-to guy—the one I looked up to the most. As a little boy, I remember constantly wishing I could go out with him, and every time he would smile and say, “One day, Johnny. One day.”
Uncle Patsy was the definition of style. He always had the best-smelling colognes and was dressed to impress. From the very beginning, I followed in his footsteps, admiring the way he carried himself. As the years, months, and days passed, I grew into the man I am today, carrying so much of him with me. We shared the same taste in Robert Graham shirts, the same love for fashion, and countless unforgettable conversations. Whether it was laughter, life advice, or just simple talks, he always made it meaningful.
One of his favorite lessons for me was simple yet powerful: “Do you need it, or do you want it?” And somehow, we always ended up saying, “YOLO—f**k it, we’ll do it.” He taught me to be the bigger man, to rise above. When I opened my business, he looked me in the eye and said, “It’s not going to be easy, but you got this. Pull the trigger.” He never let me down—always pushing me with positivity and strength.
Before he passed, he left me with words I will carry for the rest of my life: “Don’t cry. Be tough. Be a leader. Carry this family now. And please take care of my girls.” Without hesitation, I promised him I would.
Uncle Patsy, I love you deeply. Though your time here ended too soon, your spirit, your lessons, and your love live on in all of us. Until we meet again, give Gramps a huge hug for me. Rest in peace, my hero.
