Sometimes all it takes is one small change to make a space feel different.

A welcome mat.

A planter.

A seasonal centerpiece.

Or a front door that's ready for summer. 🍋

Last Friday afternoon I was staring at a shop vac box full of Tupperware that had belonged to my mom.

It had been sitting in my entryway long enough that I was tired of walking around it.

So I finally decided it was time.

What started as a box full of random containers turned into an afternoon of sorting, matching lids, deciding what to keep, and figuring out what could be used at my booth at 377 Marketplace.

Sometimes the hardest part of a project is simply getting started.

Now the keepers are organized, a few pieces are headed to the booth, and one more thing has been checked off the list.

Funny how something that starts as "I really don't want to do this" can end with "I'm glad I finally did."

Anybody else have a project sitting around the house that they've been avoiding? 😄

One ribbon loop at a time.

That's how most projects come together around here.

What starts as a simple idea slowly begins to take shape until suddenly you can see the finished vision coming together.

This summer project definitely kept me guessing along the way, but I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. 🍋

Every season seems to have its own feeling.

Spring feels fresh.

Fall feels cozy.

Christmas feels magical.

Summer feels bright.

And every year about this time, I start looking around the house thinking it needs just a little something different.

Not a complete makeover.

Not a major project.

Just one small change that makes home feel ready for the season ahead.

Last week I shared a workbench full of airplane and fire truck parts.

Most people see the finished pieces.

What they don't see are all the steps that happen before they ever make it to an event.

The cutting.

The sanding.

The painting.

The assembly.

The little details that slowly turn a pile of parts into something ready to be picked up, played with, and enjoyed.

Yesterday those finished airplanes and fire trucks made their way to Wings & Wonders at the airport.

By the end of the event, four airplanes and two fire trucks had found new homes.

As makers, that's always the best part.

Not seeing them finished on the workbench.

Not even seeing them sitting on the display table.

It's watching someone stop, ask questions, share a story, pick one up, and decide to take it home.

There’s just something about early morning setup before an event starts.

Coffee.
Tables.
Organizing.
A little bit of chaos.
