Three years ago my sisters and I purchased the home we grew up in for several reasons. One, we wanted to restore her back to the beautiful home we remembered and two, we looked forward to spending time together stripping her down to the bones and then rebuilding her back. How exciting it was to choose paint colors and wallpaper and flooring all while reminiscing about childhood memories and experiences we had there with our parents and siblings and friends.

On January 27th we lost our partner and loving sister Michelle Alumbaugh King to colon cancer. Our hearts are broken! Looking back now on how PRECIOUS that time was, we’re THANKFUL for every single moment we spent together. What a gift it was to have the opportunity to work on this project and see the final results.

Moving forward we hope to create new memories in this house with our friends and families. We have always thought it was the perfect place, warm and comfortable and feel it would be wonderful to share it with others in the community.

The possibilities are endless! We have already hosted a family over Christmas complete with Christmas tree and all. Everything from game nights, to murder mystery dinners, to scrapbooking clubs, women’s retreats, girls weekends and other events, the house will sleep 14. We are currently working on updating our page to include booking options.

Every room in the house has wallpaper. We are trying to decide if we will paint, paper or both. It has been fun picking out our favorites. Our vision is finally coming together!

Lots of work going on in this old house! We removed most of the cabinets in the kitchen. Some are in great shape and we decided to only replace the doors to update them. Our plans are to keep the red bar sink, the antique bank teller window and the beautiful stained glass windows. We love their charm and the memories they hold.

In May we had a family demo day removing flooring, carpet, and bathrooms filling up an entire dumpster. Our focus has shifted to restoring the interior. Removing the massive amounts of popcorn ceilings, repairing any damage and prepping for paint. Selections for the bathroom tile are being finalized. We could not be more pleased and look forward to sharing completed pictures!

Spending time at this old house really reminds us how our parents made this house a home! Wonderful memories! Does anyone remember the balcony?

The painting process continues. We discovered the condition of our home was worse than we realized. It is requiring more prep than anticipated. The crew is taking their time and making sure it is done correctly! We are so in love with our paint choice. Look how beautifully it compliments the stained glass window.❤️ We are happy to see the original front door ready to welcome friends and family once again!

Work has finally begun on our endeavor to restore our beautiful childhood home to its full glory. We decided to start on the exterior by repairing wood rot, scraping, sanding, caulking and choosing the perfect paint color. Drive by over Reunion Days to see our progress if you are in town!!
