I'm Dr. Cortney Baker, a believer, a wife, mama of 3, stroke survivor, proud Texan and CEO who turned to art in 2020 when the world slammed head first to a screeching halt. After founding and running a successful, nationally-recognized pediatric healthcare enterprise, I stumbled upon art as a way to escape from the everyday "dailies" of life. And what I found was an amazing, happy, soul-fulfilling

I’m no stranger to spiritual warfare. Especially when it comes to battles with my health. Tomorrow marks the 13th anniversary of my stroke (a cerebral venous sinus thrombosis in 2012 requiring a 7 hour brain surgery). That was after having a pulmonary embolism in the fall of 2005.

But this… this has been the most silent, significant attack that I honestly feel lucky to be breathing. Since it’s been a daily struggle for the last 10 + months. It’s been awful. Getting out of bed on some days wasn’t in the cards. And the worst part about it: the feeling that I was going insane. Because mold is a selective silent killer. And it was slowly killing me. The remediation process has been like finding Easter eggs on a search- but it’s not been difficult to find- it’s everywhere. Our entire home has been effected.

I’m praying that the restoration company finds and is able to extract every single pocket, nook, and cranny. And that I can get back to being healthy and whole. With no difficulties breathing. Because the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy… but I’m not coming into alignment with that agenda. Not today. Not ever. Because I’ve still got some work to do for the kingdom 👑 In fact, .galleries and and I have something exciting going on. And I can’t wait to share more soon 😍♥️🙏🏼

My heart is so stinkin’ full I can hardly stand it! This Mother’s Day weekend has been absolutely wonderful and all I could ask for. All my babies were under the same roof sleeping for two nights! And then, just like that, baby Gracie grew up, graduated 👩🏼‍🎓and joined the adult world making her dad and I so proud of her double major in Business Management and Marketing. she’s done such an incredible job getting to this point … we can’t wait to see where your wings take you next! ♥️👩🏼‍🎓🙌🏼😘

Yall. Eeeek!!!! I am so excited to share that this box of GOLD! Is going to be in my hot little hands soon! This is a box of my MawMaws jewelry, from before she went to Heaven. Oh the excitement I have to make priceless pieces just relishing the fact that they’re with her influence! I. Can’t. Wait!!! Please mark your calendars! The McKinney Art Studio Tour (MAST) is this coming weekend!

Saturday: November 11, from 10-6
Sunday: November 12, from 12-5

Make plans to visit "The Cove" - 402 N Tennessee St McKinney, TX.

The Cove is a favorite stop on the tour this year where there will be 4 artists displaying works: Heidi Kidd, Jeni Tomlinson, Cortney Baker, and Maria Hampton. There will be live demos in different media making it a very exciting studio experience. Each of the 4 artists will be on sight throughout MAST to discuss their process, show new works, and demo techniques. This year Heidi Kidd and Jeni Tomlinson are delighted to be featured as "Artists of Distinction" for MAST 2023. Congrats to them!

We love having people come by to chat with us to share our art and to be inspired. The Cove is the perfect spot to take a seat, relax and enjoy the music while grabbing a snack before making it to your next stop on the MAST tour. The Cove is an artist cooperative venue for creatives, so not only will you get to see our new collections but also get to experience all the artist works displayed on all the walls. It gives us great pleasure to show you how art enriches our lives, and we welcome you to visit the Cove.

I’m excited to show you some of my new works- including earrings, mixed media art, and I’ll have some ornaments available, too. I’m looking forward to painting and meeting with all of you! I hope you can make it ◡̈

Looking back on 20 years… wow. I can’t believe we survived. It was the biggest spiritual battle I had ever faced; at least til then.

The first two years were intense. Nearly costing me my life. And I landed in the hospital fighting to survive from a pulmonary embolism. 2005. Chug chug chug along the entrepreneurial rollercoaster and start doing well. Chugging and growing. Ups and downs… molehills not mountains. 2005-2012:

2012: had a stroke; got out of daily operations (valley, I’d say…)

2013-2016 - climbing up - out of the valleys. But steady ground, at best.

2017:
Enter the valleys. The worst time in business. The decimation of our industry and the aftermath of the trauma. The irony of it all… I feel like a fraud. Texas Business Woman of the Year and have no idea how we’re going to keep our business afloat. But God.

Valleys, again. 2020: I’m in healthcare. And held my breath for a long time. enough said.

But while holding my breath, I did the best thing I could’ve ever done for my sanity… We trusted the team we’d put in place that we knew God had appointed for such a time as this. And we grew. We grew. We grew. Like an Oak of Righteousness and by the grace of God, we grew.

2023: 20 years. An incredible team. Changing thousands of children with disabilities’ lives. In 8 states. Across the nation. Providing a nationally award-winning place of employment to a thousand people who make KidsCare Home Health, what I lovingly refer to, as the “Chick-fil-a of healthcare! ♥️🙏🏻🫡
