Seeing brown streaks or patches in your lawn? 🌱

While it may look like fertilizer burn, there's a good chance you're seeing a common turf disease called Ascochyta leaf blight. This disease often appears after periods of wet weather followed by heat and drought stress, causing grass blades to turn straw-colored and develop brown patches.

The good news? It only affects the grass blades—not the roots—so the damage is typically temporary. Most lawns will recover with proper watering, good mowing practices, and a little patience.

A few tips:
✔ Sharpen mower blades regularly
✔ Avoid mowing wet grass
✔ Water deeply and infrequently
✔ Don't over-fertilize during hot, stressful periods

If you're unsure what's causing discoloration in your lawn, we're happy to help identify the issue.

💧 Want a healthier, more resilient lawn this summer?

A few simple watering tips can make a big difference:

✅ Water deeply and less frequently to encourage deeper roots
✅ Aim for about 1 inch of water per week, including rainfall
✅ Water early in the morning for the best absorption and reduced disease risk

Deep roots help your lawn better withstand heat and drought stress throughout the season.

Tick activity is in full swing across Massachusetts, and many homeowners don't realize just how close ticks can be to everyday outdoor spaces.

While wooded areas often get the attention, ticks are commonly found along lawn edges, landscape beds, stone walls, groundcover, and areas where wildlife frequently travel.

A few ways to help reduce tick habitat around your property:
✔ Keep grass mowed regularly
✔ Trim back overgrown vegetation
✔ Remove leaf litter and brush piles
✔ Create separation between wooded areas and recreational spaces
✔ Check pets and family members after spending time outdoors

With more people spending time outside this time of year, a little awareness can go a long way toward reducing tick encounters.
