My life now is blessed with multiple gardens.
I am a traveling gardener. No longer rooted in one garden, I carry my heart and my basket wherever I am led.
Like new growth emerging in a garden, I now experience new growth within my own soul. My garden of life.
Colors I would never have chosen but now admire. Designs so different than my own, yet so uniquely beautiful.
This season has its difficulty. Yet there is immense gratitude.
Like the desert rose, some plants bloom beautifully in rocky, dry places.
I miss my own land, but as I pray, I hear the wind whisper gently.
I breathe the calming scents of flowers.
I touch the soil and know: the land is never truly ours.
Again, the calm voice.
The one I heard through tears in the forest …
Tend the gardens.
And so I do.
An artist friend.
Not a gardener of the soil but a gardener of design.
Purple salvia standing full and tall. White vinca framing the front, with foxtail ferns peeking through.
The same creative spirit in different gardens.
Gardeners who no longer can tend their own gardens.
The gardens may no longer be theirs to tend, but they never lose the gardener within.
A bloom. A fragrance. The touch of soil.
Sometimes that is enough to bring peace to the soul once more.
Those just beginning.
Wondering where to start. Unsure of what to plant, what to prune, or what might grow.
Yet every garden begins with a single seed.
It is different.
There are still moments of sadness.
Yet there is peace in tending the gardens I have been given.
Loving the earth, the trees, the flowers.
As nature continues to share and teach, I will follow where she leads.
Life isn’t exactly as we think it should be, but life is beautiful when the weeds of doubt and regret are removed.
Do what you love. If only to dream a bit. Because dreams can become reality.
