Let’s talk aphids… horrible little creatures that love fresh, new buds and leaves. They are awful this year in Ohio. So far I’ve seen them in black, white, green and a light orange. You also might not see them but white specs on leaves.
What do I do? I’m trying a 3 step approach: 1. Spray neem oil heavily on the plants once a week (til the plant is dripping - tops and bottom of leaves and stems). 2. The next morning or evening I rinse the plants down with water to get rid of any that remain 3. I’ll go around the other days and squish ones I see. I’ve heard soapy water works too but I haven’t tried that yet. I also have cut some of my roses back hard and made sure to dispose of all the infected branches into a lawn bags which I sealed. Let me know if you find something that works.

Lots of changes since my last video on May 24. We finally got a good amount of rain and everything is so happy. 🌺🌸🤩

Roses are in their prime this week 🌹. Some I will deadhead once they’ve bloomed out and wait for a second flush of blooms hopefully later this summer; others no deadheading is required and they will continue to bloom. I will fertilize all of them with Rosetone later this month 💕
