Donnyappletree-Halvorson Nursery

Donnyappletree-Halvorson Nursery For over 20 years, we've been offering fruit trees, shrubs and shade trees in the Spring (April/May). Everything is sold from my home (mainly bare root).

For over 20 years, we've been offering bare root fruit trees (apple, pear, plum, cherry, peach, etc) and small fruits (blueberry, grape, raspberry, blackberry, etc). We also sell shade trees and ornamental trees. Many are bare root; but some are potted or balled/burlaped. Selling bare root plants keeps our costs down and offers great transplantability. Because of this, we are only open in the Spri

ng (April/May). The nursery is at my home; so I'm usually here---but it's nice to give me a head's-up; so I'm sure to be here for you. I am 6 miles SOUTH of Strum on Cty D or 11 miles NORTH of Whitehall. My customers say that GPS directions to my place are WRONG; so don't head north of Strum. I offer a sales list in March; so if you're interested, please send your email address to [email protected] and I will send you a copy. Please remember that I am a small nursery and supply is limited to stock on hand.

Well, it had to happen sometime…RETIREMENT! Yes, after more than 30 years of selling nursery stock out of my garage each Spring, I have decided to retire. I broke the news to the customers, when they picked up their trees last Spring, so the word has gotten around. But, in case you hadn't heard, now you know. It has been an honor to have served you over these many years and I thank you for supporting my small nursery business. Be well and take care. Don

To all of my loyal customers, YES I am still selling trees, etc. I won't be sending out a price list because I no longer buy trees in advance. Last year, I started a new approach: I let YOU choose which plants you were interested in and I sought them out for you. It worked out great! So, I will be doing it that way again this year. And, yes, people are coming up with new and unusual plants (a super-hardy sweet cherry bush from Canada, a blueberry-like bush that is hardy to Northern Minnesota, etc). So, if it's out there, I'll try and find it. As usual, the best way to get ahold of me is through email: [email protected]. Let's think early Spring!

Hello all! Once again, it was a very successful year. So many great customers! Thanks to you, I've been able to keep this small nursery business afloat for over thirty years. But times, they are a changing. Lawyer Nursery (one of my biggest suppliers of shrubbery) has closed down and my biggest supplier is thinking of doing the same thing. Luckily, my main suppliers for fruit trees are still going strong. Old age (and no one in the younger generation wanting to enter the nursery business) has been the reason given in both instances. For me, I'm going to keep on truckin'! I'll be 70 years young next season; but must soon change my business model. As you know, I work alone...and if I go down, there is no Plan B. So, beginning in 2019, I will take pre-orders of plants that you're looking for, rather than unpacking semi loads of trees. I will send out an email to all of my customers this Fall explaining the new plan. That way, everyone has a chance to decide on what trees they'll need in 2019. Again, thank you for your continued support of my small nursery business!

Trees continue to arrive. One semi arrives on Friday and FedEx Freight arrives on Monday. Next week, many orders should hopefully be filled. When your trees arrive, I'll contact you to arrange for pickup.

Trees will start coming in next week. With the blizzard we experienced a few weeks ago, the growers are swamped with requests to ship trees out now. Mine are scheduled to arrive late next week. Our local supplier is also swamped; but I hope to start trailering in trees early next week. Spring is just starting; so there's no rush yet to plant...I've still got frost in some places.

04/17/2018

Because of the recent snow storm (blizzard), all tree shipments have been pushed back to early May.

To Ryan, Benny, Ian and Cathy: I've sent the sales list out. Let me know if you've received it. Thanks!

03/26/2018

All sales lists for 2018 have now been sent out. If you did not get your copy, let me know. Some people have changed their email addresses since last year. Just learning about us? Send me your email address to [email protected]

Thank you to all of my loyal customers! We've sold out of almost everything (just blueberries and azaleas left.) Hope to see you again next year! We've already gotten some pre-orders for 2018; so it's never too early to put together a "wish list" for next season. Thanks, again. You folks are the best!

My biggest fruit tree supplier notified me that the semi will be delivering my fruit trees on Friday (April 28). Yippee! Then, we can start filling a lot of orders.

All 2017 price lists have been sent out via email. If you didn't get a copy let me know. Every year a few come back as undeliverable. Request a copy by emailing me at: [email protected]
