Yes… I made them.
Yes… they LOOK cool.
No… they are not the revolutionary kitchen invention TikTok says it is!

Turns out there’s a reason nobody has been using these vortex spinning berry bowls for the last hundred years. Physics said absolutely not...

The issue is, the berries only spin if there’s very little weight in the bowl. Add too many berries and the vortex gives up immediately. Like in video 2 when I try to add some small grapes. But if I add drainage holes to make them practical… the spinning stops entirely. So you either get:

spinning berries
or
a functional strainer

You do not get both. 😂

So after testing them myself, I decided these are not something I feel good about producing long term just because they’re viral.

I’d rather make products that actually work beautifully in real life, not just in a 12 second video clip.

That said… I do have a couple already made if anyone wants one for fun, entertaining, or because you simply enjoy weird internet pottery gadgets. 😅 But once those are gone, I’m officially retiring the vortex berry bowl and will stick to my tried and true ACTUAL berry bowls 🤣

Not every viral trend deserves a permanent spot in the pottery studio and I’m okay saying that out loud.

My pottery has always been about beauty AND function.
This one mostly just majored in drama BUT it was a fun trial!
