Hardware may seem like one of the smaller choices in a large renovation, but our Interior Designer, Jen Siegal, knows it can completely change the feel of a room.

We recently visited Period Hardware in Concord to look through finishes, styles, and options. It's one of those design steps that can seem simple from the outside, but makes a big difference once every detail starts coming together.

Seeing and touching hardware in person can help refine the direction of the whole design. A finish can look warmer, cooler, softer, brighter, or more textured depending on the piece, and those choices can influence everything from lighting and faucets to cabinetry details and how each room connects visually.

That is why we like to think about hardware early, not as something to rush at the very end. The right hardware can add warmth, create contrast, make your home feel more custom, and bring the whole space into better balance.

Jen Siegal is an interior designer with more than 15 years of hands-on experience helping clients create spaces that feel both beautiful and personal.

Based in Sudbury, Jen brings a highly client-focused approach, with a strong ability to understand each homeowner’s style and translate it into a space that feels cohesive and functional. Jen has worked with clients throughout MetroWest on a wide range of projects from powder rooms to large-scale home renovations, and previously owned her own retail shop, giving her a well-rounded perspective on materials and finishes.

She is especially skilled in guiding clients through the selection of foundational elements, such as flooring, tile, countertops, lighting, bath fixtures, and paint colors, helping to ensure every detail works together seamlessly.
