π‘ Buying a Home? Has Your Home Inspector Recommended a Level 2 Chimney Inspection?
Many home inspection reports include a recommendation for a Level 2 chimney inspection because home inspectors are limited to visible areas and cannot fully evaluate the inside of the chimney and venting system.
At Viking Chimney Solutions, Level 2 inspections include:
β Internal camera inspection β Thermal imaging when needed β Evaluation of masonry and manufactured fireplaces β Documentation with photos and findings β Clear explanations and recommendations β Same-day reports whenever possible
Common issues we uncover include:
β’ Cracked flue tiles β’ Open mortar joints β’ Water intrusion and hidden moisture β’ Rusted chase tops β’ Damaged chimney caps β’ Unsafe or improperly installed gas log systems β’ Safety concerns that may not be visible during a standard home inspection
Finding a problem doesn't necessarily mean the house deal is dead. In fact, many issues are repairable, and sometimes we find everything is in great shape. The goal isn't to kill a dealβit's to give buyers the information they deserve before making one of the biggest investments of their lives.
