Limb Removal Comparison

Here are two different pecan trees I trimmed about 4 years ago. The tree on the left had a large diameter branch that needed to be removed for safety reasons. The tree on the right had a smaller limb that was making it hard to mow. This tree effectively "barked over" creating a natural scab over the wound.
Most trees can repair themselves after the removal of a branch that is 4 to 8 inches in diameter. Beyond that, you risk creating an open wound on the tree that is ripe for infection or decomposition. You can clearly see this on the tree on the left.

Sometimes, you have to cut down the large limbs for safeties' sake or to protect property.

I am not making any statements about anything. I am just sharing my knowledge and love of trees.

I am not a certified arborist, even though I love trees and consider myself a student of them. I do not own the newest, biggest equipment, but I do know how to safely and efficiently operate my tools. I cannot fell a giant tree right next to your house. But for most tree work, I can do the job and beat anyone's price.

Flagstone walkways and patios built or repaired!! I can do groutless installations, or I can dye grout for a different look.

Stone walkways and structures look wonderful when they are new. But over time, the elements take their toll, and maintenance is required. Shifting ground can break grout and create trip hazards.
Take a look at a recent repair job I did on a flagstone walkway.
