I searched long and hard for many years for lighter weight “painter’s plastic” longer than 12’ and NEVER found any… until this last year at Menards! The lighter weight allows the tape to actually hold it up, as the heavier poly just doesn’t work. When spraying ceilings in furnished homes or for homes or commercial spaces that are simply higher than 8-10’ having this long plastic saves “double layering” plastic and is just awesome. Thanks Menards ! Note… it’s possible it has always been available and I’ve missed it…. Regardless, happy to find it!

20 year old cement board siding… got a few painters trade secrets to get these boards looking like new and keeping the color retention as long as possible. This has been a beautiful week for outside painting and got this job 3/4 done. Will post final photos then.

Finally finished this one today! Walvatne Floor Covering in Sumer has been in business for a long time providing professional and quality flooring products and installation. They started carrying high quality Benjamin Moore paint in the past few years and I personally use their products often. We properly prepped and primed all the metal above as well as the cast pillars and stone window bases and painted it all with black Benjamin Moore Aura Exterior, one of the absolute best exterior paints money can buy. Because the condition of the wood around the 3 upper windows was poor in several areas, we decided to wrap them all in black PVC trim boards along with painted LP smart siding for the center part, and caulked them with a high quality black caulk. All the black use to be white but keeping the black theme from the newly painted building next door really makes the white pop, bringing contrast and unity to the building next door.

The perks of being an exterior painter is you get lots of close encounters with wasps. Unfortunately I tend to swell a bit when I get stung… 2 times in two days, once in the face, once in the hand…. This jobs gonna look sweet though when done, right next door to the job finished a couple weeks back! Downtown Sumner has two new paint jobs!

30 feet up painting letters and rosettes with gold paint after prepping and painting on an old building downtown Sumner. A good day for this painter. I’ll post final pictures tomorrow.

Using Sherwin-Williams Forte spraying doors and trim. Got the Graco power shot attachment with a 395 PC and a 310LPFF tip and wow, goes on well, no drips, dries super fast and finish looks great. Only first coat and still drying in the pictures.

In the rush of dealing with a family emergency, my paint sprayer ended up sitting in my van for about a week and froze solid. I had just purchased an $800 ekectric spray gun attachment for super fine finishing 😳 and was afraid the pump or new gun was ruined. Long story short, nothing was ruined! However, when the “paint water” in the sprayer and line and gun froze, it separated the solids from the liquid. Then, when I put it inside to thaw, those “solids” dried into what I am now calling paint poo. It took about an hour of so, but we got it all taken apart and cleaned out. Moral of the story… don’t leave your paint sprayer outside to freeze!

First job back at it in a while since our daughter was born early! She’s at home now doing very well and it was time to get back to work. Taking on new winter projects after new year!

Our church had a major exterior upgrade and HVAC upgrade by installing air conditioning units attached to all the furnace/air handlers. Before that, much of the church had been being cooled in the Summer with AC units in the wall. Since we eliminated those when installing the new siding, all that was left was to patch and mud the holes. In the nursery/todler room, the Pastor’s wife a few years back redesigned the room and added these neat vinyl forest decals as part of the the design. Unfortunately, one tree went right through the old AC. There were no decals leftover and we couldn’t find where it was ordered from… So, after mudding/texturing/painting, I colored matched the dark grey vinyl with the help of the paint store, drew with pencil, and painted in the “missing” section of the tree. Turned out better than I planned! Love a little challenge.

Got a new guy on the crew today. A little young but he did a pretty good job, plus, I got to pay him in candy so can’t complain!
