Before & After. Cleaned up this old closet space. Removed the cast iron boiler, and atmospheric water heater. Installed a U.S. Boiler Company ALTA combination unit and created a ton of extra usable space for this customer. Nice Job Team! On to the next one.

Usually when we install a new boiler, a lot of times we have to re-invent the wheel or re-pipe the whole system. It is not too often we can just "swap out the boiler." Luckily for this customer the previous install was a nice install and we were able to retrofit to the existing piping/system which saved the customer thousands. The system even had a plate exchanger for an outdoor wood boiler! Everything was tested and check for proper operation, and we're on to the next one.

With the “why do we live here?” cold rolling in through the weekend.

Friendly reminder that the extreme cold is not the “step outside in a hoodie and see how bad it is” kind of cold. This is the regret your life choices immediately kind of cold.

When it’s this cold, small mistakes turn into big calls real fast. Space heaters need room to breathe (three feet from anything burnable), ovens and grills are still not heaters no matter how cold it gets, and if you’re running generators, they belong outside far outside. Smoke and CO detectors should be working good time to test them!

Vehicles should warm up outside, not in garages, and if you’re traveling, throw some winter gear in the car. Frostbite doesn’t wait for you to “finish up real quick,” so cover exposed skin and limit time outdoors.

Check on neighbors, especially seniors, and bring pets inside because they don’t have turnout gear and they definitely didn’t volunteer for this weather.

Probie’s final thought: If you don’t absolutely have to be out in it… don’t be. Let’s keep this a quiet weekend for the fire department.
