❄️Freeze Alert❄️
Starting this weekend 1/24/26 temperatures are expected to drop to freezing and below freezing at night and will continue to do so every night for roughly 10 days straight. Please take this time to prepare your pool equipment to prevent any freeze damage.
Freezing conditions can cause serious and costly damage to pool equipment if proper precautions are not taken.
Steps to Prevent Freeze Damage:
-Keep pool equipment running continuously (pump, filter, heater, and chlorinator). Moving water is far less likely to freeze.
-Set automation to freeze protection mode if your system has it and confirm it is working properly.
-Open all water features (spa spillovers, waterfalls, deck jets) so water continues to circulate.
-Remove and drain hoses, cleaners, and accessories that are not freeze-rated.
-Check power supply to ensure breakers are on and equipment will not shut off overnight.
What Can Happen If Equipment Is Not Running:
-Frozen water expands, which can crack PVC pipes, pump housings, filter tanks, heaters, and valves.
-Heater heat exchangers can rupture, often requiring full replacement.
-Broken pipes and fittings may not be visible until thawing occurs, leading to major water loss.
If Water Does Freeze:
-Do NOT turn the pump on if you suspect frozen water—this can cause immediate equipment failure.
-Shut off power to the pool equipment at the breaker.
-Allow ice to thaw naturally. Do not use open flames or high heat.
-Inspect for cracks or leaks once thawed before restarting the system.
