3rd Federated Suns Lancers Chimera complete. And while its hard to see, yes there’s a tiny wave coming off the foot from where it stepped in the water. 😂

Based a dark purple, Two Thin Coats Witching Hour for the layer, Pro Acryl Blue for edge highlights, Army Painter red wash on the inside of the panels to darken it, then GW Gun Metal and Pro Acryl Sliver for the sliver metallics. Pro Acryl rich gold and Army Painter strong tone for the gold metallics. Base was Pro Acryl fine earth, a 50/50 base of GW Doombull red, then a drybrush of Squig Orange and very light drybrush of Ughati Bone, with some pin washes of red tone to deepen the crevices. Water was a pro acryl dark gray blue, banks with GW moot green and PA golden yellow, then a resin pour and a blue wash over top of that. Second resin layer with cotton mixed in to create texture, another blue wash and some white/blue flecks to give illusion of movement.

Also a ELH Mist Lynx I did as a casual warm up one morning.

And Im back at the paint desk! Nothing fancy, but table ready mini to help warm the hands back up before jumping into other projects. Especially with Mecha May right around the corner.

Given the several thousand entries and how amazing the competition was, Ill gladly take a Commended as win!

First year entering the Squidmar Open, and it was interesting to see how far the miniature community has come. Hoping theyll post a video on how they did the judging, because Id be lost in the sheer volume of stellar works. Its honestly awesome to even be noticed, and cool to see how much further I can take the art.

2025 in a pic!

I(once again) didn’t paint nearly enough, but this may be an all time low number of 30 odd models. I am happy with the quality of those models, playing around with batch painting squads for warhammer and really digging into OSL and advanced basing concepts for Battletech.

2026 is only going to continue to improve!

Iden Versio Complete!

While not my best work, I did put more time and effort into her than other recent projects of mine. The skin tone in particular was sorta fun to try to remember how highlights work on the face and trying to achieve that smooth blending transition.

While not perfect, I think it’s a respectable finish result. Her face is a bit too dark compared to the reference picture, the black/blue highlights are a bit too bright and thick to convey the right concept, and the fatigue highlights could’ve blended better, but Id put it in a solid tabletop + category. And more importantly, its not gray plastic anymore!

As always, comments, critiques and questions are welcome.

Last four units complete. While not fancy, the Warrior Vtol is an excellent scout and skirmisher, with almost all variants being long range strikers. Add in some Thumpers for them to spot for, and you can harass the enemy for days.

Not a super fancy paint job, but again these are supposed to be basic work. Fairly pleased with them in that regards, and the company will look solid in any learn to play games I run. Plus it’d be a solid Chaos Campaign group to run.

Lance complete!

To finish this Heavy Cav lance, decided to add a Dervish and Merlin. Ive always liked the Dervish as a budget but effective mech, and the only named Merlin pilot I could find was for the ELH, so it fits! Can definitely tell Im starting to feel the tediousness of repainting the same scheme, lensing is not half as good as I normally do, but least Im getting lots of edge highlights in? Close to wrapping up this Eridani Light Horse cavalry company, one support lance to go!

Just realized I never posted these here! The second half of the scout lance and vehicle support lance.

Who doesn’t love a heavy cavalry lance?

Now that life has calmed down somewhat, it’s time to finish this ELH company. For the final lance, we’re doing a Heavy Calvary lance, ready to back up the previous scout lance if it finds itself in some trouble.

First up, we have the Grasshopper, a time honored heavy mech that never fails to perform. Being mostly energy based and able to move at speed, its a heavy that will either out gun or out run anything it encounters. And to back him up, another classic trooper mech, the Shadowhawk. Personally, the Shadowhawk gets significantly better once LBXs are wide spread, but even early models can scare off lighter mechs.

Have to admit, the olive drab is starting to bore me some, but after two months of not painting I can definitely tell my skills are rusty. Edge highlights are rough, layering is meh, and canopy can use some better glazing. But hey, they’re table ready!

And finally, shout out to for these epic background photos! The style really does lend itself to miniatures, and I’m extremely pleased with them. May have to redo some of my old pictures now. 😅
