An attic full of clean, fresh, white snow! Being measured to 16” deep giving approximately R50 insulation

Nasty job removing ineffective (maybe R20) and filthy (think rats!) insulation in our 3 attics. Everything in this house is 30 years old and super-sized! Team of 2 guys taking 3 days to roll up all the batted insulation, bag it and get it out of the house. God - wish we’d done this when remodeling last year. Anyway - inside is sheeted to keep down the filth levels and we’re using fast exit routes like this window where possible.

Going back in will be radiant barrier on the back of the roof deck and 16” of blown in glass fiber to give R60 total. Should transform the house in terms of comfort and reduced cooling needs.

Between the two stages the 3 attics are thoroughly cleaned and enzymatic sanitized to kill anything still in residence.
