The recently completed Berkeley Beach Club in Saint Pete Beach, Florida, combines the intimacy of a seaside boutique hotel with casual beach cuisine (The Dewey Beach Bar & Grille) and picturesque views of the Gulf of Mexico and beautiful Pass-a-Grille Beach, from the rooftop bar.

On February 8, 2020, Cooper Johnson Smith Peterson was honored to be awarded the Addison Mizner Medial for Civic Design from the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art, Florida + Caribbean Chapter, for the design of Jesuit High School's Gonzmart Hall.

Since 2010, CJSP has been Tampa Yacht and Country Club's Architect and Master Planner. Recently completed is the third phase of the renovations and improvements. This included removing and rebuilding the family dining component, Commodore’s Cove, as well as expanding and reconstructing the kitchen. Our firm provided architectural design services. J. Banks, a South Carolina based interior design firm, selected the interior furnishings and finishes. Trimar Construction was the general contractor.

We are pleased to announce the promotion of David C. Peterson, AIA LEED-AP from Junior Partner to Full Partner! The firm now practices as Cooper Johnson Smith Peterson Architects & Town Planners.

Dave has been with the firm for 25 years and has helped to develop many of the commercial and institutional projects for which the firm has become highly respected. His projects include design work for Jesuit High School, Academy of the Holy Names, The Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg, Palma Ceia Golf &Country Club, and the Hillsborough County School District. He has also served as project manager on major projects for Disney, Celebration Community Church and projects for the Catholic Diocese of Orlando. He is currently working on the master plan for St. John's Episcopal Church and Parish Day School, as well as new work for Jesuit High School. We believe that Dave is among the most gifted traditional architects in the country and are fortunate to call him our partner.
