Today I was finally able to see, through footprints, how many times we walk back and forth from house to house. I stood and stared at this beautiful path, in the snow, until tears formed in my eyes.
Getting here was such a difficult process. From deciding what we all wanted to giving life to that dream was such a roller coaster of emotions. It took hard work, bending and a lot of grace from all of us.
Now that we’re here it’s so hard to imagine that we lived any other way. Our everyday lives are so intertwined. Each family doesn’t have two girls. We all have four daughters. We take every decision seriously and make sure that it is beneficial to all of us. We are there for each other for the smallest thing from “I need a break. Can I send these kids to you?” To emergency room visits “Hey here’s a kid, I have to go now.” From “I need some help.” To “ I’m out of coffee, can I walk over and grab some?” From “I think I made too much dinner, have you cooked yet?” To “I forgot to lay something out, what are you making?” The benefits of us living beside each other are endless.
During this ice storm, both families were able to plan ahead, together. We had meals prepared, firewood chopped and the generator ready just incase we lost power. I love watching us work together!
These girls get to walk right over to their cousin’s house any time that they want. We each get to watch our nieces grow together, everyday. It’s such a blessing to be able to live like this and I couldn’t be more thankful than I am in this moment.
God knew what he was doing. Even in the times where we didn’t understand, he knew.
Always and forever praising Jesus for all that he has done for us. We’ve given these girls something special and I pray that they always cherish it.
Our beautiful home, our little slice of country gold 💕
