This was a great project and an awesome collaboration with the homeowners. It's always inspiring to be able to make or help make someone's dreams become a reality. The end result was phenomenal. However, it did come with challenges. Challenges such as the heat. This job, for us, has been complete for the past couple of months. But when we started, it was some of the hottest days of the summer. It started as an unfinished attic and during those days the temperature inside the attic was well over 100 degrees. Honestly, though, I wouldn't have changed anything in this world. This was such a fun project. I have to give credit where credit is due, though, and let you know what items we did not do. The following items are those that the homeowners elected to do themselves, and they did an amazing job. Items we did not do were the baffles and ceiling insulation. The floor insulation we did while we built up the floor system, but I must note that this room is so well insulated that once all insulation was in place, the attic temps fell from over 100 degrees down to the mid 80s. The homeowner also stained the ceiling. They stained the oak stair treads and painted the risers before we installed them. That was a huge help. He also did the trim on the walls, laid the flooring, and installed the mini split. All of which turned out epic. We did all the framing, stairs, drywall, hung the doors, installed the tongue and grooved ceiling, the handrails, painting, and also finished out under the steps and built a large storage closet in the garage. In the beginning, we were handed a picture out of a magazine and asked to make it match the picture. I don't mean to brag, but that picture wasn't as pretty as this turned out.
