This live oak was planted too deeply by a local landscaper. After exposing the root flare (about a foot below the surface), girdling roots were found caused by the stone border as well as root rot.

Exavated and exposed the root flare, pruned out the girdling roots and applied a proper mulch ring using organic compost and mulch.

Proper planting of trees is the foundation to having them thrive for years. When trees are planted incorrectly, you will throw away money every couple of years replacing trees.
