Six years ago this month, I became the owner of Savannah Window Fashions, a business with over 30 years of history in this city, and a legacy I was determined to honor and build on.

June 2020 wasn't exactly a calm time to take the leap. But looking back, I wouldn't change a thing. The challenges of those early months shaped how we work, how we communicate, and how we show up for every client and project.

This work has always been rooted in something deeper for me: a genuine love for beautiful homes, thoughtful craftsmanship, and the kind of detail that most people never notice but always feel. That hasn't changed. If anything, it's only grown stronger.

And so has the team. One of the things I'm most grateful for is getting to work alongside my daughter Zoe every day. There's something pretty special about building something with her at my side.

To everyone who has trusted us with their homes over these six years: thank you. We don't take that lightly, and we're excited for what's to come.đź’•

Early design conversations are where the foundation for a successful project is set.

We recently spent time with designer Dana Bacher working through selections for a new construction home, layering materials, comparing woven wood options, and coordinating fabrics with wallpaper and finishes across each space.

These sessions are about more than choosing what looks good together. We’re considering how each window treatment will function, how materials will perform over time, and how everything ties into the overall plan from day one.

This level of collaboration early in the process allows us to move forward with clarity, so when it’s time for fabrication and installation, every detail has already been thoughtfully resolved 🤍

Behind every well-executed window treatment is a series of decisions most people never see.

At the IWCE, time with our vendors is always a priority. And this year, working through a complex project with the team at Ang Bejar was a standout. What had been weeks of refining details came together in one conversation, with solutions, specifications, and pricing clarified on the spot.

Memorial Day weekend in the Lowcountry means outdoor living is in full swing.

Custom cushions and pillows do more than complete a porch or patio, they’re designed to perform in our climate. With high humidity, strong sun, and sudden summer storms, material selection matters. We specify performance fabrics that hold up beautifully while maintaining their color, structure, and comfort over time.

And as always, it’s the finishing details—clean welts, hidden zippers, precise fit—that ensure everything looks as good at the end of the season as it did at the beginning.

The heading style you choose for your drapery does more than define the look, it directly impacts how your panels function, stack, and move.

In our workroom, we use drapery header samples like this to help clients and design partners visualize and compare pleat styles before final selections are made. This pinch pleat example is one of the most versatile and widely used heading styles, with structured folds created by tightly securing the fabric at regular intervals, allowing panels to hang evenly and traverse smoothly.

It’s a detail that’s easy to overlook, but it plays a significant role in the overall success of your window treatments, from daily operation to how the drapery holds its shape over time.

Every decision, down to the pleat, is part of creating a well-executed result.

In this new construction project with Gaston Crue, we had the opportunity to build on the foundation from Phase 1 where we completed custom draperies, Roman shades, and bedding throughout the main living spaces and bedrooms.

For the kitchen, we selected woven-to-size shades from Hartmann & Forbes. These natural materials filter light beautifully while holding up to the demands of a hardworking space. Each shade is measured and fabricated specifically for the window, ensuring a clean fit and consistent function across the room.

In the secondary living area, shutters were the right solution: durable, tailored, and easy to operate for a space that sees daily use.

Not every window calls for the same treatment. The goal is always to select the right solution for each space, then execute it with a clear, organized process from measurement through installation.

It’s the details that make custom window treatments feel complete.

These drapery tie-backs were designed and fabricated in our workroom using a coordinating trim selected specifically for our client’s panels. Every element, down to the smallest finishing piece, is considered, measured, and made with intention.

This is where custom truly stands apart. Thoughtful design, precise fabrication, and the flexibility to create exactly what a space calls for.

Building Savannah Window Fashions has been a true labor of love, but sharing parts of that journey with my daughter has made it even more meaningful.

Having Zoe alongside me in the business has been something I’ve deeply appreciated. There’s a special kind of pride that comes from watching your daughter step into your world, contribute in their own way, and experience the work that means so much to you.

At its core, our business has always been about care, craftsmanship, and connection—values that feel especially fitting to reflect on this time of year.
