ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: WILLIAM STONE

There’s no mistaking the work of William Stone. For the Fluxus artist, who continues to make irreverent furniture and objects in his Germantown studio, every piece contains some element of a joke. From the wry titles of his works to the seemingly abstract yet fully functional forms of his furniture, no other living artist toes the line between jokes and art (and art and design) like Bill.

We’re excited to introduce his work to a new generation (that began last year with his solo show ‘Double Take’) and have several of his pieces in the store as well as limited edition books and t-shirts featuring his punny cartoons.

What happens when nature becomes the readymade?

Laurene Boym explains the origin story of ARTIFACTS - a new collection of handmade lighting sculptures combining nature, art, and industrial design. The limited edition series includes floor lamps, table lamps, sconces, and clocks, each one made from different foraged bark with hand painted enamel.

The exhibition closes this Sunday, October 4 so if you’re looking for a statement piece for your home or project, stop by our gallery in the heart of the Hudson Valley this weekend!

A personal look at ‘Birds and Babies’ with Ann Bridget Murphy - a brilliant artist who’s not afraid to listen to her subconscious and fight the good fight through her art.

Murphy’s show closes this weekend so come by and experience her paintings, drawings, and sculptures through this lens. We’re open Friday through Sunday from 12-5pm.

It’s a place to gather, a place to convene with nature, and a place to see contemporary works as they are meant to be lived with.

As we approach America’s 250th anniversary, the country is still at a series of ever-alarming crossroads with rising authoritarianism, corporate greed, and the questioning of basic human rights, to name a few.

Set against this backdrop, we present ‘DON’T SIT ON ME’ - a protest show through the lens of chair design. From paper thrones and economic stools to spiked seats, this brazen group exhibition features 13 chair designs that defiantly stand against the challenges and injustices that people face on a daily basis.
