What a transformation this en-suite bathroom was! And what a delight it was to pluck it from the imagination and give it existence.

Recent team outing at and Waller Mill Park.

Reflection: Often, in regard to one’s occupation, people want to talk about one loving what one does, after all, most of our lives go to our work; so, this is, of course, something worth highlighting—I get that. Yet, it’s often at the expense of all other pertinent factors. The ‘what’ overshadows the ‘who’ and the ‘how. You know what doesn’t get enough light… Whom one does their what with: I think what’s more important than what one does is with whom one does it! And as for the how—how do we do what we do? With delight. With much laughter. With love. With pride. With honor. With candor. With self-respect. And with our hearts as much as our hands. I love our team! And we love servicing the Williamsburg and surrounding area.

Completing a job is bitter sweet. It’s great to satisfy a customer, but hard to walk away from a work of art.

Aside from his bigger than life personality, Josh is a spirited contributor to that which drives a lot of the imagination behind our designs. When he is not with family, perfecting his prized steak seasoning, merorizing whole books of the Bible, or re-watching episodes of Psych for the umpteenth time, he is inventing new, ingenious techniques for installing and joining tiles. Photographed is our most recent bathroom remodel; I'm not pleased with how the photos came out (if you're a photographer, let's chat!) as the pictures I feel do not quite capture the perspiration and precision that went into this transformation.

This is the second master bathroom flip we've done in Colonial Heritage for which we've removed the drop-in tub and created a large, open, walk-in shower that has encompassed the entire wet area. Shout out to Buttner Electric LLC for the help! Well done team!

What a blessing it was for the bathroom remodel division to finish out '24 with this project.

The clients were a dream—hospitable, considerate and permitted lots of room for creative freedom.

The job itself was a load of fun—from the envelope fold of the shower pan to the niche bump-out to the freestanding tub—and for us, quite novel.

I want to thank Josh for his exquisite and mindful tiling as each tile, from the marble streaking to its place within the broader arrangement, was given considerable thought.

Just another intelligent and ingenious design!

A special thanks as well to Adam, who performed much of the initial construction of this project and to Grimsley Custom Plumbing for being pleasant to work with and for their attention to detail!

This was just a small full-bathroom remodel; what made this one unique was the use of Flexstone—a cost-effective product that we've highlighted before on our page—and the accent wall. Flexstone offers a small niche of its own manufacturing; we like to construct our own niche, however, using their window trim. Visible in one of the pictures is our custom tile niche incorporated into the Flexstone wall panels. Just to remind prospective clients looking to do a bathroom remodel on a budget, Flexstone allows for decorative shower walls at about half the cost of what it would cost to tile them.
