Prep is 85% of painting and refinishing!!
📣📣📣
When you hire someone to paint or refinish something in your home, you’re paying mostly for the prep work! Steps like cleaning, sanding, and repairing are THE most important parts of any paint job.
Cleaning with a degreaser removes any hand or kitchen related oils from the surface of your cabinets. Including any other gunk that’s built up on the surface over the years.
🧼🧽🫧
Sanding has several stages. 1st to make the current surface rough enough to accept the new paint/primer. Sanding between primer coats and top coats are done with a higher grit to achieve smoothness. We typically use grits that range from 150-320. Sometimes more rough or more fine depnding on the application.
🤩🙌🤩
Whether it’s walls or wood… holes, dings and scratches need to be filled in, sanded and primed so that when that new paint goes on, the surface will look brand new!
🎉🎉🎉
Without prepping the surface properly, you could end up with problems down the line, and who has time for that?!

Always be informed! Ask your painter/refinisher about their process. Ask about the products they use. Typically you’ll find, in this case, that you get what you pay for.
