It's HOT 🥵 Friends!

Excessively low or high temperatures may stop growth or cause a spindly appearance, foliage damage, leaf drop, or plant failure. However, most indoor plants tolerate normal temperature fluctuations.

In general, foliage indoor plants grow best between 70° and 80°F during the day and from 60° to 68°F at night;

Most flowering indoor plants prefer the same daytime range but grow best at nighttime temperatures of 55° to 60°F;

A good rule of thumb is to keep the night temperature 10 to 15°F lower than the day temperature to induce physiological recovery from moisture loss, intensify flower color, and prolong flower life; and

Indoor plants, especially flowering varieties, are sensitive to drafts or heat from registers. Protect them from sudden, brief changes in temperature. Do not locate your indoor plants near heat or air conditioning sources.

While there is no motivation quite like ‘Friday drinks’ for improved productivity among staff, one asset in the office comes close… indoor plants! When you are in close proximity to plants, your brain is relaxed and you are able to think and communicate more clearly. Indoor plants at work positively affect our brains by nurturing creativity and building memory retention by as much as 20 percent. With increases in creativity and memory power, it’s only natural that workers also show improved productivity.

So, you got a plant for your desk. Now what? 😬🤷🌱
I have a long story, if you feel so inclined....
Several years ago, my best friend bought me this cute little Fiddle Leaf Fig. I loved it, I knew immediately it would find a home on my office desk, that conveniently had a great window. I was stoked! It was so cute and pretty! So I bring it to my office and lovingly place it near said window, and that was the moment it clicked for me.
I. Love. Plants. I wanted to KNOW this tree. It was MY TREE. A WHOLE TREE! It may not walk or talk (back😂) to me, but it's alive. It breathes. It grows. It needs nutrients and a solid fountain to thrive. But how? So I got curious. I started documenting.
Then I started reading. Learning. What can I do, to make this tree as healthy as I can, and live it's best life.
I know how happy that little tree makes me. Why wouldn't I want this for other people? Why wouldn't I want to share this? So I started talking about plants to anyone that would listen, my friends started asking me for advice on theirs. It became a passion.

Oh, did I forget to mention that at the time, I was working a government job, during the beginning of the pandemic, in unemployment benefits? If you ever wanted a reason to feel sad, try reading the heart breaking, hand written letters from people not being able to pay their mortgage, tuition, cancer medical bills, fresh widows that needed jobs now being on one income. It was awful.
If that tree could bring me the happiness that it did, in the environment I was working in, WHY WOULDN'T I SHARE THAT?

It's been with me ever since and has also outgrown the office that I eventually left, to start at Jackson's ❤️🌱 to which fast forward a little over 2 years, and I'm now in the beginning stages of my own company, Green Thumb Floriculture Design and Installation LLC. Alongside still working in bed maintenance.

Studies have found that, compared to their counterparts in conventional offices, those with plants in their immediate environment score, on average, 25% higher on tests of cognitive function. This improvement is seen most clearly in high pressure response situations, information usage, and strategic planning - three valuable skills, especially for those higher up in companies.
