Also known as a “mulch volcano.”

Too much mulch around the trunk can trap moisture, encourage rot, attract pests, and slowly weaken the tree over time.

The fix is simple:
✔ Keep mulch a few inches away from the trunk
✔ Expose the root flare
✔ Spread mulch wide, not high (to the edge of the tree canopy)

A little adjustment now can help keep your trees healthier and stronger long-term.
