Warning about the pending extreme cold for this weekend, February 7.
With the increased risk of domestic pipe freeze ups, we are sharing our tips to avoid costly damage and repairs.
Leave ALL sink and vanity cabinet doors wide open. Leave all interior doors open, even the boiler/furnace room and basement door, so that the heat in each room fills the entire house. Most hall closets butt the tub/shower valve, so leave those linen closet doors ajar too. Avoid trying to fill every gap that may cause a draft, as every house needs fresh air especially if you have a fuel sourced heating system like gas or oil.
If your home is prone to freeze ups, consider checking the link below. Rankin is a temporary heat service I have used many times in the past for commercial and residential temporary heat needs. They deliver, set up, and remove their equipment at a very reasonable price. Weigh the cost of frozen pipes, possible burst and costly damage and repair to the cost of temporary heat.
