Warning about the pending extreme cold for this weekend, February 7.
With the increased risk of domestic pipe freeze ups, we are sharing our tips to avoid costly damage and repairs.
Leave ALL sink and vanity cabinet doors wide open. Leave all interior doors open, even the boiler/furnace room and basement door, so that the heat in each room fills the entire house. Most hall closets butt the tub/shower valve, so leave those linen closet doors ajar too. Avoid trying to fill every gap that may cause a draft, as every house needs fresh air especially if you have a fuel sourced heating system like gas or oil.

Been awhile since posting, I want to start posting more DIY Fix-it stuff, or just help you figure some things out..
Today's blurb is about Recessed lights.
Before the advent of LED, or light emitting diodes, Incandescent lighting put out some heat. If people followed the guidelines for the fixtures, it wouldn't have been a problem, but we don't! LOL
It says 60w max, we put in 100watter.. right? So the manufacturers built the units with a on board thermal controller, that would interrupt the internal circuit of each can if it got too hot.
The reason I am sharing all this with you, is in case you have old school recessed lights that come on with the switch, then go off by themselves. They should come back on after 10-20 minutes when the coupler cools down, but many times the coupler burns out.
If this happens to you, call me and I can offer you some inexpensive remedies for this. Some will try to sell you new fixtures, but us good guys will always look out for our bread and butter... you.
