🌸 Hydrangeas have started to bloom in the PNW! Bloom time ranges from June to September, depending on location, weather, and variety. While many associate hydrangeas with shade-loving shrubs that change color based on soil pH, some varieties, like the Panicle Hydrangea, thrive in the sun, producing clusters of white cone-shaped flower heads. Pruning changes by variety, as some bloom on old wood, others on new, and some hybrids on both. Enjoy the beauty and versatility of hydrangeas this season! 🌿☀️

June is National Homeownership Month. Here are some helpful landscape to-dos for the month:

1. Fertilize your annuals. Apply a granular, slow-release flower food to promote healthy, abundant blooms.
2. Plant lettuce, kale, tomatoes, squash, spinach, green beans, and peppers.
3. Pick and enjoy ripe strawberries!
4. Plant summer-flowering bulbs such as dahlias.
5. Cut back daffodils and tulips.
6. Prune your wisteria after it is done blooming.
