KSB house, Tulsa, OK.

KSB House takes maximum advantage of the neighborhood’s tiered ponds and views to distant wooded hills. The front and rear living and sleeping zones have framed perspectives to focus on the captivating views of water, woods, and sky. Every bedroom and gathering space is given a patio or balcony. Operable windows and deep overhangs provide fresh air when desired and controlled sunlight. Natural light will imbue the interiors and reflect off the white surfaces.

Brian L. Freese recently gave a presentation entitled Midwest Modern – The Journey of Freese Architecture at the 2025 AIA Oklahoma Conference on Architecture with the theme of “Unchartered Horizons”. The presentation covered the firm’s history from its founding in January of 1994, to Freese’s primary influences of rural utilitarian structures, to the more notable published and awarded residential projects that illustrate the firm’s path and evolution from 2005 to the present.

NEW VIEW BOOK:

It’s official! This beautiful coffee table design book is published and distributed nationwide. NEW VIEW – 20 Magnificent Homes by Midwest Architects features our Lakeview home in Skiatook, Oklahoma.

In the text of our chapter, the writer generously says “This estate exemplifies Freese Architecture’s ability to honor the heritage and natural beauty of a site while creating a home that is as functional as it is inspiring. Under the vast Oklahoma skies, this one-of-a-kind residence celebrates the firm’s philosophy and the homeowners’ vision, offering a space that is both breathtaking and deeply connected to the land.”

The new Sigma Chi Fraternity house at the The University of Oklahoma is designed to redefine the traditional fraternity house aesthetic. Moving away from the typical Southern plantation style, this modern design embraces a more inclusive, 21st-century vision. It welcomes young men from all backgrounds, offering a cool, inviting space to form friendships, foster learning, and build lifelong connections. Inspired by the sweeping Midwest plains, the house features expansive modern forms, durable masonry and metal panel materials, and light-filled interiors with skylights and a raised glass element that brightens the main living and dining areas. A spacious covered outdoor room connects the house to the street and the broader campus community, making it a true home away from home.

The Bridge was envisioned as a dynamic mixed-use development at 13th and Peoria, a redevelopment of the iconic Golden Pawn II, which had been a beloved destination for musicians since the 1970s. The project was set to include a restaurant, bar/music venue, retail spaces, and a rooftop bar, honoring Tulsa’s musical heritage and legends like Leon Russell and the GAP Band. The design aimed to bridge the Pearl and Cherry Street Districts, incorporating industrial-inspired architecture and offering spectacular skyline views. Sadly, despite the exciting plans, the project never came to fruition.

Bevins Co., a leading manufacturer of safety equipment for high line power workers, is staying in Tulsa with a new, larger headquarters. Freese Architecture redesigned an existing warehouse for manufacturing and built an 11,000 sq. ft. administrative office to complement it. Nestled in an industrial area, the design brings nature indoors through pocket courtyards and filtered light, creating a calming, innovative workspace. Simple materials like corrugated metal and exposed steel honor the industrial setting, while the distinctive design sets Bevins apart as an industry leader.

5 Peoria

Old red brick warehouses with modern glass and weathered steel create a chic New York vibe right in Tulsa's revitalized Pearl District. This area, now home to trendy coffee shops, cafés, and more, is buzzing with life.

The 1920s office warehouse features weathered steel windows and a retail entry, while a new second-level addition offers living units with covered parking below. The two buildings connect via a second-level corridor, blending old and new seamlessly. Experience the fusion of hot and cool, New York and Oklahoma, at 5 Peoria! Treeloft

Remember the thrill of a treehouse? Treeloft, a modern 2,350 sq ft home, captures that magic. Elevated by steel columns on a steep, forested lot in the city, it offers unique avian views. The sleek design features steel, cement board, metal roofs, and glass, blending elegance with efficiency. The intersecting metal roofs create a stunning water feature when it rains. Experience the wonder of living among the trees!

As seen in... Architectural Digest 📚

As earlier reported in our website blogs, Architectural Digest, or AD, the premier magazine on design and architecture worldwide, selected Freese Architecture in their AD March 2023 issue as the state’s most recognized custom residential architectural firm! Their ongoing program of an annual issue featuring a different state and its most acknowledged design professionals led them to our (digital) front door when they featured our beautiful state in that issue. To our surprise, they called again! We were featured in their AD January 2024 issue along with a short list of other design firms. Maybe they’re finally discovering what Oklahomans have known for a long time – there’s some serious talent in our state!
