Such a perfect night for the last Bands & Blooms of the season! Thank you, Tulsa Botanic Garden for having the Hot Toast band out for a little Halloween serenade!

**On a personal note….My list of post-colorectal cancer firsts continues to grow.

The night before my surgery in May 2025, I was scheduled to play a show at Tulsa Botanic Garden Looking back, it’s hilarious (and completely ridiculous) how convinced I was that I could still pull it off. I waited until the VERY last minute (eek🫣) to cancel - until the fasting and full bowel cleanse finally got the best of me. Not to mention the fact that I had to be at the hospital at like 6 AM the next morning 😂 🤪

I also had to miss playing at the gardens last fall because I was going through chemo. So LAST NIGHT was my first time back!

Princess Margaret Hajjar took these videos, and watching them back, I’m realizing that this is probably the most energy I’ve had since before my surgery. It might be the first time I’ve been able to dance around onstage without getting completely out of breath.

It’s funny how you don’t always recognize these milestones while they’re happening. Sometimes it takes watching yourself on video to realize just how far you’ve come.

One more first. One more little piece of myself coming back.

This is our final appeal for the 2026 Annual Appeal...

Our President and CEO, Chuck Lamson, has a personal ask for everyone who has ever walked our paths, watched a child discover something new, or found a quiet moment in The Garden.

When a child grows up never touching soil, never watching a seed sprout, never walking under an old tree, something is lost. The Garden exists to win that back, and we can’t do it without you.

If you’ve been meaning to give, please don’t wait. No gift is too small. Every gift is a seed, and here, seeds grow.

Give today, a one time gift or a monthly subscription: https://qrtrac.link/TBG

To everyone who has already given: thank you. You are the reason The Garden grows.

Most people see the Garden in bloom. Behind the scenes, our horticulture team grows every plant from seed or cutting, and out on the Cross Timbers Nature Trail, our team is restoring native habitat as the trail grows from 1 to 4.7 miles, with a goal of 8.
A large portion of what we do is made possible by contributions from people like you. Your gift to the Annual Appeal goes straight to the work of caring for this land and connecting people back to nature.
Give once, monthly, quarterly, or annually at https://tulsabotanicgarden.givingfuel.com/tulsa-botanic-garden-annual-appeal-2026 before it ends.
