ARRIVALS!
It’s Fall and time to get trees and plants in the ground to enjoy spring blooms! These are arriving at the Nursery and it’s going to be tough not to want them all to ourselves! See below…
CORNUS KOUSA DOGWOOD “IVORY SUMMER” (white)
The Kousa White Dogwood Tree is an attractive, white flowering dwarf tree! Gorgeous long-lasting white flowers cover the branches in late spring and early summer, followed by autumn fruits and leaf color, interesting winter bark, and bright green spring foliage. .
CORNUS KOUSA “SATOMI” (pink)
A truly beautiful specimen tree for the home landscape, with large, showy deep pink flowers in spring and a strongly horizontal habit of growth; very particular as to siting, requires rich, well-drained acidic soil and adequate precipitation
CORNUS FLORIDA CHEROKEE DAYBREAK
Cherokee Daybreak’ has nice green and white leaves that hold color without the typical scorching that many variegated plants have. Fall color is pink to deep red and typical white bracts. Overall form is upright for a dogwood. With year round interest, it offers white to pink spring flowers, distinctive, oval, vertically curved leaves, red to purple fall color and red winter berries.
JAPANESE STEWARTIA (white flowers)
A multistemmed, deciduous tree with a rounded columnar form, stewartia features stunning bark that exfoliates in strips of gray, orange, and reddish brown once the trunk attains a diameter of 2 to 3 inches. Serrated foliage emerges bronzy purple in spring, develops into a dark green by summer, and turns red or orange in the fall. In midsummer, glamorous white camellia-like flowers open in random succession and are followed by pointed brown seedpods.
This tree grows somewhat slowly until established, eventually reaching up to 40 feet tall and 20 feet wide. It is an excellent specimen tree.
This tree grows best in full sun to partial shade. However, the leaves are prone to sunburn in very strong afternoon sun. It should be shaded during the hottest times of the day.
