🌸 Here is some helpful information about planting daylilies: 🌸
Whether you’re taking home one daylily or several, following these simple steps will help your new plants get off to a great start!
✅ Choose a sunny location – Most daylilies perform best with at least 6 hours of sunlight each day.
✅ Prepare the planting hole – Dig a hole wide enough to comfortably spread the roots.
✅ Plant at the proper depth – Make a small mound of soil in the center of the hole and spread the roots over it. The crown (where the roots and leaves meet) should be about ½–1 inch below the soil surface.
✅ Water thoroughly – Water deeply immediately after planting and keep the soil consistently moist for the first few weeks while the roots become established.
✅ Mulch – Apply 2–3 inches of mulch around the plant to help retain moisture and reduce weeds, keeping the mulch away from the crown.
✅ Trim foliage if needed – If your daylily was recently dug and divided, foliage may be trimmed to 6–8 inches to reduce transplant stress.
✅ Be patient – Some yellowing or drooping leaves are normal after transplanting. Most daylilies settle in quickly and will reward you with beautiful blooms for years to come!
🌱 If you can’t plant right away: Keep the roots moist and shaded. You can wrap them in damp paper towels or place them in a bucket with a small amount of water until planting.
Happy planting! We can’t wait to see these beautiful daylilies thriving in their new homes. 🌸💕
