An old trend, but a true feeling… of gratefulness… for everything that I am, and everything that I have. Like wine. Definitely grateful I have wine🍷 Parents of kids fresh out on summer break will understand 😆

The last few weeks have been... a lot. We said goodbye to my dad, celebrated my oldest graduating eighth grade, cheered through dance recitals and so much more.

And somewhere in the middle of it all we ripped out a porch railing. Because that was one thing I could actually control, and dang did it feel good. 💪🏽 ❤️

The OG DIY’r, my dad, has found his spot up in heaven. He taught me a lot of things, but only a few feel appropriate for this page.

He taught me that nothing can replace the feat of building something with your “bare hands” - he built the log cabin I grew up in with his, after all. He taught me to play sports like the boys - because boys can’t do anything girls can’t. He taught me to work hard, study hard and play even harder. He taught me to tip generously and live unapologetically. He taught me to take every class and get every degree, because nothing is more important than education. He taught me to save for retirement, and when that’s done, save some more. He taught me that Old Style is not my beer of choice, and that jaeger shakers, and that one extra bev at the party, are always a good idea.

He was larger than life, and we didn’t always see eye to eye. But we did love and truly respect each other. He was there for me at every turn in my life, and he was also there for my kids. He didn’t always know how to show love, and instead, he showed up.

The original Kook… that’s my dad. And man will I miss him. If you’re having a drink at the end of a long day of work this week, raise a glass to him. I know I will ❤️

Why pay someone else when I can stress myself (and my husband) out for free?

Delusional? Maybe. Resourceful? Also maybe. 😂

True story from 20 mins ago. 😂 I am who I am.

Social media is no joke. But I really actually do love creating content for a small but mighty audience. And by mighty, I mean very supportive. And by supportive, I mean mostly family 😂

Kidding. Kind of. (Hi, mom 😂)

No walls were stenciled. No furniture was flipped. But a lot of life happened this holiday season, and I’m grateful for all of it—and all of you.

Here’s to getting back to creating this year—rooms, projects and a little order (but not too much!) in the beautiful chaos. 🥂

You know what is SO COOL about where you grow up? It never really leaves you. YOU can leave—and I did, many, many years ago—but this weekend I went back. And man… the miles and miles of endless country roads, family everywhere you turn and my old driveway (pictured here… behind those fall trees lies the log cabin my dad built, and the 5 acres of Wisconsin property my two brothers and I made lots of questionable decisions at 😂 )… it all has a way of cutting straight to the ol’ ♥️ and reminding you not just where you’re from, but who you are.

I’ve built a lot of things since I left Twin Lakes. Rooms, homes, routines and 3 tiny humans. But this small town built me.

And that is my nostalgic Monday mood 😊 Happy fresh new week, friends.
