Cheers to one year of TRMT’s office. 🥂

I can’t believe I’m even saying that.

There are a lot of words I could use to describe this past year… but the one that sits the heaviest is thankful.

This year stretched me in ways I didn’t see coming. It challenged me, humbled me, and forced me to grow up in business real fast. Roofing and construction this year? No filter—it’s been brutal across the board. But it’s also been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever taken on.

What I didn’t expect… was the people.

I’ve met some incredible, genuine, ride-or-die type people through this journey. Different backgrounds, different stories—but solid, good humans. The kind that remind you why you keep showing up even on the hard days. Y’all made this worth it.

I’ve lost jobs I would’ve bet money on.
I’ve won jobs I had no business winning.

And every single one of those moments taught me something I needed. Not always what I wanted—but exactly what I needed. And I’m actually excited for what the next round of lessons brings, because now I know what I’m capable of handling.

I cannot emphasize enough how blessed I am for the customers who trusted the process, stuck with me, and gave me the opportunity to prove myself. That kind of trust isn’t small—and I carry it with me on every single job.

I don’t have all the answers. Not even close.
But I’m one step closer than I was a year ago—and that counts for everything.

Cheers to me—for taking the risk.
Cheers to this industry—for keeping me on my toes.

It can be fruitful.
It can be hateful.
But one thing is guaranteed… it’s always eventful.

And I wouldn’t trade this year for anything.

If your roof gets hit and you decide to “wait”… just know you’re making their job easier, not yours.👀

Here’s the actual numbers by company:

• State Farm: ~54% approval
→ Filing within 72 hours can push that closer to 65–75%

• Allstate: ~50% approval (half get $0)
→ Early filing can move that into the 60–70% range

• Farmers: ~70–85% approval
→ Early filing can push that into the 80–90% range

• USAA: ~60–70% approval
→ Early filing can push that into the 70–85% range

• Texas Farm Bureau: ~75–85% approval
→ Early filing can push that into the 85–95% range

• Travelers: ~65–75% approval
→ Early filing can push that into the 75–85% range

Same roof. Same damage. Different timing = different outcome.

Wait too long and now it’s:
“Wear and tear”
“Old damage”
“Not from this storm”

Bottom line:
The longer you wait, the stronger their denial gets.

Me:
The panels? Yes.
The screws holding it down? Absolutely not.

Those little screws have rubber washers on them.
In East Texas heat they get cooked.
They dry out.
They crack.
They loosen.

And then they quietly start letting water in like it pays rent.

Around year 8–12, metal roofs start playing a fun game called:
“Which fastener fails first?”

Metal roofs don’t leak because metal failed.
They leak because the tiny $0.40 screw gave up on life

If you want the “lasts forever” part, you’ve got to maintain it.
Fastener replacement every 10-ish years is normal.
