🌸 A Farewell to Ranunculus Season 🌸

For months, the face planter at the front of our roadside garden has been putting on a show for everyone passing by. Week after week, we've watched these ranunculus grow from tiny plants into the stunning blooms that became one of the highlights of our spring flower season.

Now, with this week's heat settling in, the ranunculus season is coming to an end. These are the very last blooms standing, and while we're sad to see them go, we're incredibly grateful for the season they gave us.

After five years of growing ranunculus, this was finally the year everything came together. The timing, the weather, the lessons learned from past seasons, it all paid off. We enjoyed every single moment of watching these flowers flourish, harvesting blooms, and most of all sharing them with our customers and community.

To everyone who enjoyed watching these ranunculus grow through our photos, videos, and social media updates, and to everyone who brought a bouquet home this spring, thank you. Your support made this long awaited successful season even more rewarding.

Goodbye, beautiful ranunculus. We'll miss you, but we'll already be dreaming about next spring. 💕🌸

The tulips came, they dazzled… and just like that, their season has passed. 🌷

Our roadside garden, once bursting with 3,000 tulips, is now resting quietly as we turn the page toward summer. The beds are cleared, the last petals have fallen, and a whole new season of flowers is ready to take root.

To everyone who purchased tulip bouquets, waved or honked from the road, visited us at the farmers market, or brought our tulips into your homes... THANK YOU! We hope these flowers brought a little beauty, color, and joy into your spring days.

Now it’s time for the next chapter here at Cloverdale Flower Farm. Summer flowers are going into the ground, the ranunculus are holding strong and the gardens are shifting into a whole new kind of magic.

Summer is officially here… and we’re ready to grow. ☀️🌸

Once again.... Thank you Underhill & Jericho for supporting our flower farming adventure!🙏

The first Jericho Farmers’ Market of the season is HERE and we are so excited to be back at Jericho Farmers' Market at Mills Riverside Park today from 3:00–6:30! 🌸

This week our very first ranunculus stems of the season are making their way into bouquets alongside our late season tulips. After years of growing them with varying success, seeing these blooms in abundance feels incredibly rewarding.

We’ll also have a big selection of potted plants this week, including SEVEN specialty viola varieties! Unlike standard pansies, violas tend to produce smaller blooms in greater abundance, creating soft clouds of color with a more delicate, whimsical look. Many are highly fragrant, incredibly cold tolerant, and bloom heavily through cool spring weather. We grow varieties that don't require deadheading and are more tolerable of summer heat.

This week’s viola lineup includes:
🌿 Frizzle Sizzle
🌿 Brush Strokes
🌿 Orange Sorbet
🌿 Deep Blue Sorbet
🌿 Flower Power Plum Antique
🌿 Penny Marina
🌿 Penny Peach Jump Up

We’ll also have:

✨ Strawflower plants
✨ Rudbeckia plants
✨ Hens & Chicks
✨ Sedum plants
✨ Feverfew plants
✨ Orlaya plants

And, of course...
🌷Fresh cut bouquets featuring ranunculus + late season tulips

Come support the local farmers, makers, bakers, artists, and small businesses who work so hard to bring locally grown and locally made products to our community. Every purchase truly matters to small farms like ours. 💚

We’re about 2/3 of the way through tulip season here at Cloverdale Flower Farm… but arguably the prettiest flower we grow is waiting right on deck.

Ranunculus.

We’ve been growing ranunculus for the past 6 years with varying levels of success. These stunning, rose like blooms are grown from strange little octopus shaped corms and are notoriously difficult to grow well in Vermont. They demand months of careful tending, cool temperatures, protection from hard freezes & heat, endless monitoring, and a whole lot of luck. Some years they fail completely. Some years the stems are too short. Some years the weather wins.

But this year… this just might be our year. Still, we know not to count our ranunculus blooms until they're in the vase!

The plants are loaded with buds, and the first blooms are getting ready to open. If all goes well, the farm is about to explode into layers of pastel petals unlike anything we’ve grown before.

9 days until our first farmers market of the season. 🌸

The tulips are shining their light on the roadside garden of Route 15 in Underhill, and we want them to shine that light into your home!

We were up late last night, freshly harvesting over 300 tulips. While over 70% of tulips sold in the U.S. are grown abroad and treated with chemicals to keep them from opening, our tulips are fresh, untreated, and ready to open in your home as nature intended.

This week only, we’re offering delivery (no pickups) to homes in Underhill and Jericho. A quart mason jar packed full of as many tulip blooms as we can fit is $29.99, delivered from our porch to yours.

If you'd love one, text 802-864-2738 or email [email protected]. Let these tulips brighten your week!

🌱 The first seedling of the year 🌱

She’s a fragrant stock! The very first to break the surface this season and we’ve officially flagged her to save for ourselves. A tiny beginning, but such a big moment.

So many more seedlings are right on deck and ready to explode into life. This succession of fragrant stock is being grown especially for Mother’s Day . The timing feels just right. Stock takes about 100 days to flower, and there are 107 days until Mother’s Day.

💚Nature knows what she’s doing. 💚

Here’s to patience, promise, and all the beauty that’s already on its way.
