‘Edison’, a novel by Pallavi Sharma Dixit (that’s my client & dear friend!) will be published June 4th!
It’s a Bollywood-inspired love letter to the Indian immigrant community of Edison, NJ (where she grew up!) written with all the romance and ‘masala’ of Indian cinema! If this is your vibe, head to my stories to read more and pre-order!

This novel holds a special place for H&S as Pallavi wrote some of the last chapters in the new spaces we created in her home in Linden Hills, Minneapolis. From transforming a closed-off basement to a spacious guest lounge, to constructing a vaastu-blessed addition to the upper level with a boutique-inspired closet, to creating a front yard patio complete with a bourbon-rail, to transforming the exterior… every space in her beautiful 1930s Tudor home is a reflection of Pallavi’s eye for design, maximalist style, and love for bold colors and patterns. As her builder and designer, getting to know Pallavi and her creative flair has been an absolute joy… ahh Pallavi, how I miss our countless design chats and laughter… now that you are done with writing the novel, can we dream up another home project soon? :) :)

No matter the snow outside, this basement mudroom is sure to greet you with the confidence and cheer of spring!! Swipe to see how the custom design can hold your wet snow & rain gear pretty well too!

You do you… something we want our clients to believe in. Be true to what you love… don’t design to be on-trend or for the next homeowner… design for yourself and what makes YOU happy!

Yes even if it means lime-washing walls in bold tones to create an elevated vintage ‘boutique’ experience for your dressing needs complete with brass clothing rods and a massive concrete island for all things your wardrobe holds… even ironing!

And who knows, you may very well be onto something here… maybe kicking off a new trend or two!

A tight hug to my classy, fearless client who is onto something special of her own this year! Stay tuned!

Sometimes it’s the little things that make the most impact! Our storage solution to optimize space under the stairs of this 1930s home is simple and oh so practical… not to mention that subtle dash of color brings cheer to these cold cold days!

Starting the new year with a serious crush on green… especially this time of the year!

Glimpses from our recent whole-home remodel where we’ve used shades of green to create moments of calm and character alike!

We love to carve out these tiny moments of function and personality from seemingly unusable attic spaces!
Our client loves storage… but then again who doesn’t! During our build process when we realized this dead space between the original roof line and our new addition could be turned into a decent sized niche… we decided to keep it a secret 🤫 and surprised her at the end! It has now become their fav spot to house current reading lists!

What a lovely spring (almost summer!) evening in Minnesota!
Our family has been here for over six years now, and yet every single time I’m still blown away with the beauty of seasons in Minnesota and how it changes what we do, how we live and how we feel!
Cheers to embracing change… be it that looong winter I thought we’d never get rid of!🥂

This door and it’s story! So much attention and teamwork went into the design, craftsmanship and finishing of this custom solid mahogany door as a part of an exterior refresh of this 1930s Tudor home. We were intentional about every design choice to ensure the architectural context of the home was retained while bringing in updates for modern living. A classic hook post design wall sconce inspired from the 1930s above the entryway, lime slurry finish on both the stucco and brick to make the facade appear cohesive and bigger and the clay beige tones keep it all within context. We hear from our clients, it is the talk of the neighborhood! 🤎
